PE and Sports Premium Funding
Since 2013 the Government has provided additional funding to primary schools to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport. This funding, provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, will be allocated to primary schools annually.
This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in school. The Government have made it clear that schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer.
Our school received £17,850 to improve the provision of PE and sport in our school for 2024-2025.
Whilst we pride ourselves on being a very active and healthy school, with a whole-school approach to supporting both physical and mental well-being, we welcome this additional funding as an opportunity to further enhance the excellent practice already taking place.
PE and Sport Premium funding for 2024-2025
Vision:
All pupils should leave primary school physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.
Objective:
To achieve self-sustaining improvement in the quality of PE and sport in primary schools.
The DfE recommends we use the Sports Premium budget to make improvements in the following 5 key areas:
1. increasing confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sporting activities
2. increasing engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity and sporting activities
3. raising the profile of PE and sport across the school, to support whole school improvement
4. offer a broader and more equal experience of a range of sports and physical activities to all pupils
5. increasing participation in competitive sport
